Step 1. Participants

To import names from a Roster in System Manager:

1. From Step 1 of the project, click the Browse icon.

2. Browse to the Resources folder in System Manager.

The path is c:\Program Files\Insight4\Resources. This path may be different if your program is installed on a network.

3. Double-click the Rosters folder.

4. Choose the roster file that you want to import. In this example the file is called Advanced Technologies.mdb.

5. Click Open

6. Click All to choose everyone for the project or click individual names.

7. Click Import.

The names appear on the left side of the screen.


To import names from an Excel spreadsheet:

1. Prepare a spreadsheet with the following column headers: LastName, FirstName and Email exactly as shown here.

Caution: Any other text on line 1 of the spreadsheet will prevent the roster from importing correctly. Be sure to use the words as shown with no space and no dash.

Your spreadsheet will look like this:

NOTE: The sheet name in this file (located in the lower left corner of the worksheet) must be Sheet1.

Save the file to a location on your computer that allows easy access when importing the names.

2. Click the link: Click here to import names from a file.

3. Navigate to the Excel spreadsheet you wish to import, and click Open.

4. Choose the participants you wish to import.

5. Click Import.

The names appear on the left side of the screen.


To add the Test Subject:

Follow the above steps 1-8, using the Roster, Test Subject Roster. Import the name, Test Subject. If you would like to receive the emails for Test Subject from steps 5, 6 and WebResponse,

  1. Click Test Subject.
  2. At the Selected box, click Edit.
  3. At the Email Address box, type in your email address.
  4. Click OK.

To enter names manually:

1. Click the + (Add) icon or click, Click here to create a NEW participant.

2. The New Participant screen appears.

3. Type the particpant's last name in the Last Name field, Tanner in the above example, and the participant's first name in the First Name field, Kevin in this example. Be sure to include the e-mail address if the survey is going to be administered online.

4. Click OK or press <Enter>.
