20/20 Insight GOLD

Scales Overview

Scales are the unit of measure for a feedback project, and apply to the items within a project identified requiring a numeric rating. A scale contains a question stem, descriptors and a range of numeric ratings. You can use the standard scales that come with 20/20 Insight GOLD, or you can create customized scales and store them in the Scale Library.

20/20 Insight GOLD contains the five standard scales, which are stored in the file Scale Library.mdb.

20/20 Insight Gold may have up to 4 Scales per Project.
Four Scales per Project is the maximum.

A Scale-Range may be any value between 1 to 2, up to 1 to 12.

You are able to change the Scale-Range of your Project up until responses are entered by a Participant. As soon as a Respondent answers Items, the Scale-Range becomes locked.

Usually an organization will assign one scale to an entire project. Some organizations may want to use two scales in a project to get different perspectives. For example, to assess agreement that the Subject performs the skills well, and then, to assess how important the skills are to the Subject’s effectiveness.

All Scales within a Project must be the same Scale Range.
It isn’t possible to have Scales with differing Scale-Ranges in the same Project.

Terms used when working with scales include:

  • Scales - The unit of measurement for the assessment, includes the question stem and descriptors, used with a range of numeric ratings.
  • Question Stem - The prompt for the scale, e.g., How satisfied are you with the performance of *?

  • Scale-Range - The numeric value for the scale. May be between 1 to 2, up to 1 to 12.
  • Abbreviation - Scale abbreviation (required) can be up to 6 characters in length, and prints on all reports.
