Kiosk-Mode Help:
WebResponse—Set Up Survey
Kiosk Options
Kiosk-Mode Projects are used in workplaces where Respondents don't have individual
email addresses or convenient access to computers. Kiosk-Mode allows Respondents
to access the survey from a common location, or Kiosk, without the need for
a unique Username and Password.
After a Kiosk-Mode Project has been created and synchronized to WebResponse, a URL
is generated and placed on the Kiosk computer. A desktop shortcut may be placed
on any computer with internet access that is accessible to your Respondents.
Kiosk-Mode Projects are created almost exactly like you have always created Projects
with a few differences. Create a new Kiosk-Mode Project using the steps available
at Create a new Kiosk-Mode Project.
The instructions will walk you through creating a Kiosk-Mode Project up to, and
including this step.
If you have already walked through the steps, you are ready to activate Kiosk-Mode
for your Project:
Check Enable Kiosk Mode
Additional options for Kiosk Mode will appear.
Kiosk-Mode Additional Options:
Require Passcode (optional)
Check this box if you want your Respondents to type in a pre-defined Passcode to
log into the Survey. A Passcode can be helpful if the Kiosk will be located in a
public area. It can help prevent unintended Respondents from entering and completing
the survey.
Only one Passcode can be created for a Survey, and the Passcode will be the same
for all Kiosk-Respondents. Individual Passcodes cannot be created - all Respondents
must use the same passcode.
IMPORTANT: Remember that if you require a Passcode for a Survey, you will
need to communicate that Passcode to Respondents.
Passcode for kiosk access: (if Require Passcode is checked)
Enter the Passcode that you wish Kiosk-Respondents to enter to access the Survey.
Passcodes can be up to 50 characters and are NOT case-sensitive.
Keep in mind that you will need to distribute the Passcode to potential Respondents.
You may want to choose a Passcode that is easy to communicate.
If you require a Passcode to enter the Survey, the Kiosk-Respondents will also be
given a unique Username and the opportunity to create a Password. They can record
this information to return again later to the survey. The login will look similar
to this:
IMPORTANT: It’s not possible for Respondents to log back in and change responses
if a Passcode is not required.
Select a relationship to assign to kiosk respondents:
By default, Kiosk-Mode will assign the Relationship "Other" to Kiosk-Respondents.
If you wish to assign a different Relationship to your Kiosk-Respondents, click
the down arrow and choose a relationship from the drop-down menu.
Relationships listed in the drop-down menu are the relationships you created in
tab 2 of your project (Relationships). If you need to create a new Relationship,
see the online help for Relationships.
After you create a new Relationship, Synchronize your Project and return here to
continue.
All Kiosk-Respondents will have the same Relationship. You cannot assign specific
Relationships to different Kiosk-Respondents.
Link to kiosk:
This is the URL to be used by Kiosk-Respondents to access the Survey. Use this URL
to create a shortcut on the Kiosk computer. You may use this URL on as many Kiosk
computers as needed. The link may be distributed manually (via email or memo) and
be typed, or pasted, into a browser.
For instructions on creating a shortcut for a Kiosk computer, see Create a Kiosk Shortcut.
You can distribute the URL to Respondents through your personal email or memo. Any
computer with internet access can be used to access the Survey.
The Respondents will simply type or paste the URL into any browser to access the
Survey.
